Mit Hilfe des Kritikers Leonard Feather gelang es ihr, sich in kürzester Zeit in der New Yorker Jazzszene zu etablieren und als erste europäische Musikerin einen Plattenvertrag bei Blue Note zu erhalten. In einem Zeitraum von nur acht Monaten spielte sie 1956 für das Label drei Alben ein. Das beste und leider auch schon letzte Album überhaupt war “Jutta Hipp With Zoot Sims”. An dieser sublimen Session mit dem Charakter einer hochkarätigen Blowing-Session nahmen neben dem Tenorsaxophonisten Zoot Sims noch der Trompeter Jerry Lloyd, Bassist Ahmed Abdul-Malik und Drummer Ed Thigpen teil. Zu den Highlights des Sets zählen der im Uptempo gespielte Opener “Just Blues” und die grandiose Ballade “Violets For Your Furs”. Aufgrund von Differenzen mit Feathers zog sie sich Hipp danach weitgehend aus der Jazzszene zurück.
