The Little Rock born Baby Face Willette debuted his swinging sound on three consecutive Blue Note sessions in January 1961: Lou Donaldson’s \u0026#34;Here ‘Tis\u0026#34;, Grant Green’s \u0026#34;Grant’s First Stand\u0026#34;, and Willette’s own debut album \u0026#34;Face To Face\u0026#34;. Alfred Lion brought Willette back into Van Gelder Studio in May of that year for his second leader date, Stop And Listen.
